Motive Player 1.0.0
================

Thanks for trying Motive Player.

This one download is both free mode and the unlocked app.
Without a key it runs in free mode. A key unlocks it in the same
folder, with nothing new to download.

GETTING STARTED

1. Unzip first. Right-click the zip, choose "Extract All...", and
run the app from the extracted folder, not from inside the zip.
Keep this whole folder together and put it anywhere on this PC
you like (Documents, a games drive, an external disk - it does
   not matter).
2. Run MotivePlayer.exe.
Windows may show a blue box, "Windows protected your PC". That
is SmartScreen: it shows for apps from small publishers it has
not seen much of yet. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". It
   asks once.
3. Bought a key? Click Settings (bottom left, at the foot of the
side rail) and choose "Enter a key...".
Paste the key from your order. Unlocking asks the activation
server. If it cannot be reached, the key unlocks anyway for
seven days, and Motive tries again each time it starts -
sending the key again until the server answers. Once it has
answered, the unlock is checked against a file on your own
PC. WHAT MOTIVE SENDS, below, says what that file is and how
   long it lasts.
4. Click "Add a folder..." and pick the folder your videos
   live in.

YOUR KEY, AND WHICH PC IT IS ON

Keep your key. You will need it again if you reinstall or move
to another PC.

The key works on one PC. Moving it to a different one means
pasting the same key on the new PC - there is nothing to
deactivate or hand back first. The first move is free, and after
that a move waits 30 days.

What remembers the unlock is a file in your Windows user profile,
not a file in this folder. So the folder travels fine on a stick,
but plugging it into a second PC asks that PC for the key rather
than carrying the unlock over to it.

WANT A SHORTCUT?

Right-click MotivePlayer.exe, choose "Show more options" if you are
on Windows 11, then "Send to" and "Desktop (create shortcut)".

WHAT IT DOES

- Plays your own videos with their .funscript files, including
multi-axis companions (name.twist.funscript and so on).
- Drives an SR6/OSR2 over serial or UDP T-Code, plus devices on
  Intiface/Buttplug, The Handy, and Autoblow.
- Library browsing with thumbnails, search and filters.
- A live stroke shaper: Stroke limits, Length, Stretch and Speed.
- A span editor for reshaping parts of a script, and export.
- A phone remote and in-headset VR playback over your own network.
- Eighteen looks - colour, typeface and text size - and themes
of your own, built out of fourteen colours and shared as a
  block of text.
- Nine languages: English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese,
Korean, Japanese, French, Spanish, German and Italian.
- Privacy lock: an optional password, asked for on each launch
  before your library is drawn.

Free mode and unlocked: without a key, the library, playback,
every kind of device, the motion track, the headset and all nine
languages work. Stretch up and Stretch down are locked, Length
stops at 1.2x, Speed stops at 1.25x, you get one extra axis
instead of seven, and four of the eighteen looks, with none of
the pickers and no themes of your own.
Axis combos, the span editor, export, Privacy lock and the animated /
filmed sorting - its badges, its three library filters and the
guess-from-preview sweep - need a key.

REQUIREMENTS

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Nothing to install and no runtime to
add - the folder is self-contained.

WHAT MOTIVE SENDS, AND WHEN

Unlocking sends the key itself to the activation server, with a
one-way code for this PC, and gets back a file that is kept in
your Windows profile. It is good for a year, and while it is,
that file is what each launch checks, without sending your key
again. A launch with no valid file to check sends the key again
instead - after an unlock that could not reach the server, for
instance, or a year that ran out. Both are below.

Then, once per launch and about half a minute in, Motive asks
the server whether your key has been moved to another PC. That
request carries a 12-character reference for your key and the
same one-way code for this PC - not the key, never a filename,
never anything about what you play. If it cannot reach the
server - no connection, a firewall, the server down - nothing
changes and the app carries on as normal.

That same check is what collects the next year. Once the file
is inside its last two months, the check also asks for a fresh
one, and the server signs it for this PC. You are not asked
anything and nothing is shown. One launch that reaches the
server and stays open half a minute, at any point in those two
months, moves the year forward - so in normal use you do not
reach the end of it.

If nothing gets through across that whole two months, the year
does run out. Motive keeps working for seven more days, and
tries again each time it starts - sending the key again, the
way the first unlock did - then goes back to free mode until
the next launch that reaches the server, which unlocks it
again. Your key and your settings are untouched either way.

If the server cannot be reached while you are unlocking in the
first place, Motive unlocks anyway for a week and tries again
each time it starts - sending the key again until one of those
launches gets through. Sorting out the connection ends that. If
the week runs out with still no connection, Motive goes back to
free mode until a launch that gets through.

Devices differ, and two of them are not local. The Handy and
Autoblow are driven through their makers' own cloud services, so
playing to either one streams the motion out to them for as long
as it plays. Serial, UDP and Intiface devices are driven
straight from this PC, over your own cable or your own network.

One more, in the headset: a scene you have no script for can be
looked up at a script site: one site you add yourself, by
typing its address and signing in. There is none to begin with,
so a fresh install looks nothing up anywhere. Once you have
added one, the lookup runs on its own, with a switch beside it
under VR > Script sites. Adding one needs a key.
